Whether you like it or not grades are a major part of your education. They determine what schools you can apply to, what classes you can take and what type of degree you can pursue. With such an importance placed on your grades it is important that you keep track of them throughout the school year so you can know what to expect.
Tracking your grades is important whether you are in high school or college, because it allows you to see where you stand with your classes and what you need to work on. Here’s a look at how you can keep track of your grades so you experience no surprises at the end of the year.
Read and Understand Your Class Syllabus
Before every class begins your teachers and professors will provide you with a syllabus. This syllabus will outline what counts for your grade and how your grade will be determined.
If this is not covered you may want to consider talking to your teacher and asking them what your expectations are for the class so you can prepare.
Organize and Track Your Grades
Throughout your time in that particular class you will want to organize and track your grades. A great way to do this is to take a section of a notebook and designate ten pages to your grades. You can then write down the grades and track where you stand in the class.
Tracking your grades takes organization and patience but it can pay off. At the end of the term there will be no surprised and throughout the term you will know where you stand in your classes.
