Report card time used to be one of the most stressful periods of a kid’s life. Bringing home that report card could mean a grounding or a reward, depending on the performance. Today’s parents often have a much greater ability to track the grades of their children. As more and more schools begin to create electronic grade tracking, parents and students have the ability for the first time to change grades in real time.
This doesn’t mean turning an F into an A with some clever handwriting. Instead, it means access to a student’s performance in real time. Grade tracking gives power to both the parent and the student to access grades and to make plans to turn things around when needed.
If you have noticed a negative change in your child’s grades, there are things you can do. Commit to regularly tracking their grades and make changes when needed. Consider the following steps to help improve grades.
- Regular homework time: if your child’s grades aren’t the best, create a homework schedule and make sure they stick to it
- Work with the school: contact your child’s teacher and see what areas need improvement. This can often be done right through the online grade tracking program.
- Track Assignments: instead of only looking at grades, track what your student is responsible for. For example, if your child needs to read a book, track their progress on a daily basis.
Online grade tracking is a powerful tool and one that can help make sure your child has a successful education.
